Chair Kaplowitz noted that there was no proposed legislation before us at this time.

Chair Kaplowitz thanked WCDOH Deputy Commissioner Morrissey and Mr. Vaselekos for attending and addressing the committee. He also thanked them for the work they and their staff do related to WNV and all environment and health issues.

The DOH staff reviewed their standard operating procedures regarding to West Nile Virus (WNV) prevention and treatment. The County purchased some flat-head minnows and put them in ponds on golf courses to test how long they would live with larvacide.

The members of the Legislature's Pest Management Committee (PMC) also addressed the committee on this issue. Most stated that they would expand the larvacide program. A summary of their remarks, along with the June 2012 WCDOH Data Brief on WNV, were handed out to the committee members and are on file.

Chair Kaplowitz thanked the members of the PMC for their work on this and all topics.
