HON. KENNETH JENKINS: ResidentComplaints-RiverPointeDrumHill-Peekskill

On motion of Mr. Harckham the above item was received, filed and referred to the Committee on Government Operations.

Ms. Drummond discussed the complaints from the residents at the affordable housing complex, River Pointe Drum Hill in Peekskill, including: pull cords that don't work, no doctor on premises, no on-site services for residents, water leaks on the roof, rent increases, window installation issues, computer room repair, laundry room costs, elevator repairs, cable television, smoking in and around building.

There was a written response by the management company on April 10,which addressed all the issues above. They have been in discussions with Cablevision which are ongoing. The State approved the 4% rent increase and the no smoking is a self-policing issue. Conifer has checked the records for the elevator and it is not out of service more than any other building. The water leaks from the air conditioning unit on the roof have been fixed. They are working to have more programs and services and to make sure there is an answer when emergencies services are required.

Ms. Drummond said that Conifer is working with the Department of Planning to resolve all the issues. Planning inspectors go out and inspect the premises once a year and this year the inspector will do a physical monitoring to check on any complaints that may be visible.

Ms. Borgia noted that it sounds as if the complaints are being resolved.
