This item was not voted on today, because we have still not received the necessary updated legislation requested.

However, Ms. Chemka, the DPW&T Deputy Commissioner that oversees the Airport, did address the Committee regarding this bond act. Ms. Chemka explained that these funds would provide new HVAC systems, electric systems and baggage carousels, and therefore would like to move this along as quickly as possible.

Chair Borgia stated that as soon as we can get the correct updated legislation the Committee can move forward.

With a motion by Legislator Shimsky and seconded by Legislator Smith, this item was approved with a vote of 6-0.

Chair Borgia stated that we have discussed this item already and were awaiting updated legislation, which we now have. Therefore only a brief discussion was had. Ms. Chemka stated that this bond is to finance terminal systems upgrades, including the replacement of terminal boilers, HVAC units and other electrical services. Ms. Chemka also stated that this is routine replacement, meaning that this equipment has simply reached the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced. Chair Borgia reminded the Committee that there is no taxpayer dollars being used for this project.

DPWT Deputy Commissioner Chemka stated that this bond is to finance terminal systems upgrades, including the replacement of terminal boilers, HVAC units and other electrical services. This money is coming from the Airport Special Revenue Fund, so there no taxpayer dollars being used for this project.

With a motion by Legislator Borgia and seconded by Legislator Spreckman, this item was approved with a vote of 7-0.

Ms. Myers and Ms. Borgia presented the report and Bond Act and moved that the report be received, filed and approved and the Bond Act adopted, which motion was carried by the following vote.
