BOND-A0097-Domestic Water System Improvements

On motion of Mr. Harckham the above item was received, filed and referred to the Committees on Budget & Appropriations and Government Operations.

This item was not voted on today, because we have still not received the necessary updated legislation requested.

Ms. Chemka advised the Committee that this Bond Act would fund the cost of upgrades to the Hangar E pumphouse, including the demolition of existing underground equipment and the replacement of aboveground equipment.

Again, Chair Borgia stated that as soon as we can get the correct updated legislation the Committee can move forward.

Legislator Myers asked if the County Airport would be affected at all by the Federal sequestration. Ms. Chemka replied that they would not be since they are a smaller airport. The only issue the TSA, who administered airport security, would face would be difficulty in obtaining additional overtime for their employees.

With a motion by Legislator Shimsky and seconded by Legislator Spreckman, this item was approved with a vote of 6-0.

Chair Borgia stated that we have discussed this item already and were awaiting updated legislation, which we now have. Therefore only a brief discussion was had. Ms. Chemka stated that this bond is to finance domestic water system improvements, including the replacement of both underground and above ground equipment. Ms. Chemka also stated that this is routine replacement, meaning that this equipment has simply reached the end of its useful life. Chair Borgia reminded the Committee that there is no taxpayer dollars being used for this project.

DPWT Deputy Commissioner Chemka stated that this bond is to finance domestic water system improvements, including the replacement of both underground and above ground equipment. Ms. Chemka also stated that this is routine replacement, meaning that this equipment has simply reached the end of its useful life. This money is coming from the Airport Special Revenue Fund, so there no taxpayer dollars being used for this project.

With a motion by Legislator Shimsky and seconded by Legislator Borgia, this item was approved with a vote of 7-0.

Ms. Myers and Ms. Borgia presented the report and Bond Act and moved that the report be received, filed and approved and the Bond Act adopted, which motion was carried by the following vote.
